Through the REDCYCLE initiative that Ternua has been carrying out since 2015, it has collected 12 tons of abandoned networks in 2016 with which the brand has manufactured different garments from the Basque coast of Bermeo, Getaria and Hondarribia. techniques
The objective of Redcycle is to make society aware of the importance of recycling and protecting the planet, concepts that are intrinsically linked to the brand's philosophy.
Ternua acknowledges being very excited about this nomination: “The Redcycle project has been recognized in many forums in the sports and environment sector. It is a project that has given us many joys and that has motivated us even more when it comes to convincing us that, despite the great effort involved in carrying out initiatives of this type for small brands like ours, it is the path to follow ” .
These awards are linked to the I Extremadura Sports and Tourism Congress 2030, which the Youth and Sports Foundation will organize on May 18 and 19 in Extremadura at the Palacio de Congresos de Plasencia and the International Center for Sports Innovation in the Natural Ring of El Anillo. Its objective is to recognize the most prominent proposals, personalities and entities in fields related to the sports tourism sector, entrepreneurship, communication or social initiatives linked to it.
Ternua is a brand that designs and produces outdoor technical clothing. It sells its garments nationally and internationally, being present in more than 20 countries in Europe, Asia and America. It belongs to the European Outdoor Group, which includes the most important outdoor and mountain brands in the world, which collaborate in a constructive and positive way in promoting the common interests of the European Outdoor sector. In addition, he is one of the members of the EOCA board, the European Outdoor Conservation Association, a non-profit association that has distributed more than € 2 million in environmental conservation projects since 2006. He is also one of the founding members and one of the members of the IGOT board, Its Great Out There, a non-profit association whose objective is to encourage the practice of outdoor activities with the aim of combating the phenomena of sedentary lifestyle and in this way improve the quality of life and socialization of people. In addition, it sponsors top-level events and athletes.
At the product level, Ternua designs and produces according to sustainability parameters. 100% of its OI 1819 textile collection is PFC free. Likewise, 94% of its products for the next cold season are manufactured or using Bluesign certified fabrics, 100% GOTS organic cotton (Global Organic Textile Standard), recycled fabrics and biodegradable natural fabrics) and 45% of its collection are garments made from recycled fabrics. It is a pioneer in the use of Neokdun recycled pen in all its pen products and in applying a water-repellent treatment to the PFC-free recycled pen.
In the field of innovation, Ternua has elite collaborators, among which the climber Alberto Iñurrategi stands out, who examine and test the prototypes of garments that are designed, as an innovation laboratory, since they mark the new challenges in the development of new products by testing them before launching them to the market (Whats Next Project). Finally, it should be noted the Craftmanship character of the brand, as a real manufacturer of clothing, with the ability to make garments in its own headquarters, something that few brands can carry out.
In the #BlogSFN we already talked about this initiative of Ternua last year in the post "RECYCLE, networks that are transformed to transform the world" and we are getting to know the rest of their initiatives both through the intervention of Edu Uribesalgo, Innovation Director of Ternua Group in the VII Day of Sustainable Fashion that we celebrated in April, as in the intervention of Edu in the recent GK Green Fashion in San Sebastián where in addition to talking about Recycle, he also told us about other Ternua initiatives such as Lurrekolore ( a project that reuses agricultural waste and applies it to garments such as natural dye) or Gorbeia Suzien (develops in collaboration with the test a sports garment that is part of the new Ternua collection) or For a Plastic Free Sea (Ternua and the association Surfer Againts Sewage come together to promote a project that aims to remove more than 30 tons of plastic garbage from the beaches of the United Kingdom).
As you can see, we must not lose sight of this innovative sustainable fashion brand
